Comfort and protection in a stylish shoe

DON’T NEED ANOTHER PAIR OF MOTORCYCLE BOOTS. BUT

when I saw these gray Mackey shoes on display at San

Francisco Harley-Davidson recently, I had to have them!

I love the hipster high-top sneaker style, and the color of

this leather with its subtle dark magenta piping grabbed

my attention. When I picked them up, I was

surprised by how light they were. Then I read

the tags—the ankles are supported with PO-

RON, which hardens on impact but is soft

to the touch. Sold!

Trying them on, I realized that the

Mackey’s are sized quite differently

from a similar-style riding shoe I

have—Dainese WP Street Biker.

While the Dainese shoe is tight-

ßWWLQJDQGWDSHUHGLQWKHWRH

the Harleys are wide in the foot

and toe areas (much better for your feet, according to

my podiatrist). H-D’s Mackeys are true to size, meaning

,RUGHUHGWKHVDPHVL]H,QRUPDOO\GRDQGWKH\ßWEXWDUH

just a tad bigger than my usual 9.5-sized boot.

The arch support and footbed in the Mackeys offer

excellent support, and my feet don’t get tired or sore after

walking in them for a long time. This

point is the key to what makes them in-

valuable for me. I hate having to bring

along an extra pair of shoes when I

ride. I want to be as comfortable walk-

ing in them as I do riding in them. The

Other important features of the

Mackey riding shoe include a water-

proof full grain upper and breathable

HydroGuard membrane lining, rubber
