DECALS
The Eduard decals were on two
sheets. The irst was a stencil
sheet and the other was the
markings for the particular
aircraft. They were obviously
printed by diferent people
but either way they worked
very well. The stencils were
lawless and came of the
backing easily. The other decals
took a little longer to release
but also performed lawlessly.
Then I sealed everything in
with another coat of with Agua
Gloss. I wanted to weather
the metallic look a little bit,
so I decided on Ammo by Mig
Cold Grey Wash. I laid this in
the panel lines and let it dry
slightly, then wiped it in the
direction of airlow on the
wings and vertically on the
fuselage. I was quite impressed
with the look of the model now.
The exhaust section needed
some additional shading, and
here I used Tamiya Weathering
Powder Set D and added the red
and blue to the very end part
of the exhaust to replicate the
burned section. On the bottom
some artist oils were used to
represent luid leaks. With that
I started to add other parts to
the model. The Brassin AA-
8s were added to the pylons
then added to the wings.
EJECTOR SEAT
I still needed to build the
ejection seat before I could
close up this project. The
Brassin ejection seat was a little
gem. It was relatively simple
to build, and I painted the seat
Neutral Grey as the instructions
indicate, along with the other
colours needed. If I had a word
of advice here it would be to
remember to add the decals
before you add the straps and
stuf. Eduard doesn’t show
you the decals until the end
of the instructions, so don’t
forget to add them earlier than
at the end. Then the entire
seat was given a coat of lat to
bring it all together. The seat
then itted perfectly inside
the cockpit. I modiied the
pitot tube to accept the Master
Barrel replacement. The pitot
tube sticks out in front of the
model just begging to be broken
of or bent, s thank goodness
for Master barrel! Also, note
that angle is slightly down.
FINISHING TOUCHES
The canopy slipped into place
with no problems whatsoever.
That just left the static wicks
on the control surfaces. Eduard
provides you with etched parts
here, but I could see myself
bending them and losing them,
so I needed an alternative. I
opted EZ Line, which is lat,
just like the etch, but were
very lexible. I simply put a
drop of CA on the appropriate
spot and added the EZ Line.
Inside the Brassin set was an
etched boarding ladder, so
why not add it! The ladder was
fragile but looked the part.
I primed it with Alclad Grey
Primer and painted it with
Tamiya Flat Red and added a
few chips here and there. Well
heck there, was a helmet in
