NATURAL SELECTION
KITCHEN, BREAKFAST ROOM AND BUTLER’S PANTRY | YVONNE MCFADDEN
Inspired by the existing 1920s stone structures found on the property prior to con-
struction, designer Yvonne McFadden—who worked in tandem with the builder on all
interior selections and architecture for the Showhouse—knew she wanted to incorporate
these elements into the residence’s public spaces to create a link between the property’s
past and present. In the kitchen, open shelving placed in front of the stone provides a
warm, anchoring backdrop, while an oversize, marble-topped island with custom steel
brackets (a detail borrowed from the butler’s pantry shelving) offers plenty of storage and
counter space for entertaining. In the Butler’s Pantry, stacked handmade tile from Re-
naissance Tile & Bath create a chic counterpoint to wood shelving, while a mix of open
and closed cabinetry by Morgan Creek Cabinetry throughout the open spaces fosters a
cohesive, casual-but-refi ned aesthetic. Completing her vision for a lived-in, luxe look are
the breakfast room’s set of antique Spanish chairs, whose patina and ruggedness are the
perfect contrast to the strong, modern lines of the Jonathan Browning fi xture above.
