The living room and kitchen are open plan with plenty of furniture pieces in
various textures and warm colours to round off the space. The black-and-white
photograph was shot in Newlands Forest by Alta’s sister Riana Vogel. A pine
bookcase was painted in a deep red and the antique cupboard, a gift, now
serves as a ‘pantry’. Plenty of indoor plants add a fresh touch. In the kitchen,
the couple opted for “user-friendly” open shelving against the walls and used
workbenches fitted with painted doors as lower units. The island was custom
made from Oregon pine and painted with white chalk paint. >>
