JAMES’ TRIKE
It has to be said that James Smith’s rides go from one
extreme to another. At one end is his sleek lowriding
Yamaha chop, while at the other is this imposing beast.
NCC National Committee member James built the
custom frame with help from Will. Fitted in that chassis
is a 4.0 litre TVR Chimera engine with an Edelbrock
500 carburettor and dual plane manifold, while gear
selection is handled by a ZF 4-speed automatic
transmission with overdrive. At the rear is a narrowed
Jag 3.54 powerlock axle and, at the other end, a
leading link front end with a 250-section tyre on a billet
wheel and hollow yokes (10mm plate top and bottom)
which conceal all the electrics and indicators. It’s been
on the road for two years, collecting a lot of trophies
along the way at both public events and NCC runs and,
says James, “has already seen every corner of the UK
and quite a bit of Europe.”
