Reminisce Extra – September 2019

SEPTEMBER 2019 (^) * REMINISCE.COM 47
Here I am in the only leisure suit I ever owned. I wore it
to church and special occasions. This picture was taken
in 1973 outside our home in Oregon. With me are my
wife, Janet, and our children Linda and Eric. •
I loved the leisure suits of the
1970s because not only could
you toss them in the washer
and dryer, it was impossible
to wrinkle the fabric. Come
Sunday, my boys Dan (left) and
Dave would be complaining
before I opened their closet.
They said the suits were too
itchy, too tight or too hot.
Too bad! Little do they know,
I’ve kept one of the suits—in
case I ever have a grandson.
Their sister Jennifer escaped
leisure-suit torture.

This navy blue
suit was one of
two in my closet in
1976. The other was a
nice forest green with
the same stitching and
shoulderepaulets.
