A blank slate

Before cutting the first piece of bench-

work, I had the basement finished with

carpeting and a drop ceiling. While that

work was being completed, I drew the

track plan on paper and had my friend

Mike Minatelli convert it to CAD. This

proved helpful, as I could see how things

looked before I started building. Having

operated on several model railroads,

I knew what I liked and didn’t like. My

goal was to have an operations-oriented

model railroad that re-created the Philly

Sub as closely as possible.
