Toyota 4AGE twin-cam an unusual fitment in a Tiger.
Buckets a snug fit in Avon based chassis.
Very different feel to the GTA interior.
The GTA is one of Tiger’s more recent models, and
this example is fresher than most, with the run to
Stoneleigh in May (where we photographed the cars)
being its first proper outing having been registered
just a week or so before! Owner Nick Parsons has
previous Tiger form, having built his first kit car, a Tiger Cat, back in
- Indeed, he still owns that car but fancied another project and in
2016 bought an unfinished Tiger Avon and a new GTA body conversion
from the factory. “I spent just over two years doing a full strip down
and rebuild on the Avon, using many new parts,” says Nick. “As with
most builds there were months when I didn’t touch the car due to work
and family commitments.” Unusually, he’s fitted a 1.6-litre Toyota 4AGE,
which was originally supplied by Raw Engineering.
In between the Cat build and the GTA he’s also found plenty of time
to do other kit car work. “I have recommissioned a couple of Westfields,”
explains Nick. “In 2012 I came across a Jago Geep barn find. I did a
full restoration back to a bare chassis. I vinyl wrapped the entire Geep
which was a fiddly job but the result was well worth it.
“I enjoy the mechanics and creating kit cars probably more than
driving them. The GTA is sadly too small for me as I’m 6ft 3in so I
am looking to sell it. It’s a brand new car and needs to be driven
by somebody [contact him at [email protected] if you are
interested]. I’ve always wanted to experience a bike engined car so
maybe I will do one of these next?”
TIGER GTA
ALSO FROM TIGER...
it was founded all those years ago. Sound
engineering, great value and comprehensive
factory back up have resulted in 1000s of
happy customers living their kit car dream.
That’s a legacy any business can be proud of,
and when that business also supports all the
family... I hope that’s the icing on the cake
for husband and wife team, Jim and Sue
Dudley. Happy 30th anniversary.
