    TECHNICAL LAYOUT
Raptor gives Ford’s twin-turbo diesel engine its debut and mates it with a 10-speed
automatic transmission. It retains the ladder-frame chassis of the standard Ranger
with a steel body atop, albeit with a strengthened front axle and heavily revised rear
axle, which now uses coil springs instead of leaf springs. Test weight matches Ford’s
claim of 2510kg almost exactly, with the distribution biased front to rear 53:47.

As this is an official European product, finding
    an unregistered Raptor shouldn’t prove
problematic. With a deposit of £11,590, Ford
quotes a deal that would put the Ranger Raptor’s
substantial dimensions on your driveway for
just under £600 per month. APR is 7.4%, with
    a balloon payment of £16,350.
