Go to https://www.virtualbox.org /wiki/Downloads and click the
OS X hosts’ link. The Mac version of VirtualBox is downloaded.
The current version, at the time of writing, is 6.0.10. When the app has
fully downloaded, double-click the VirtualBox disk image in your
Downloads folder to open it.
3
Click the New option in the Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager
window. In the pop-up, type ‘Raspberry Pi Desktop’ as the
name. Choose where you want the virtual machine to run (the default
location is as good as any), and select the type, Linux, and the version,
Debian 64-bit. When you’re ready, click the Continue button.
2
Double-click VirtualBox.pkg to install the app. Follow the
on-screen instructions during installation. If the installation keeps
failing, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and, if
necessary, click the Allow button to let your Mac install the software.
When done, launch the VirtualBox app.
4
Continue to follow the on-screen instructions for setup. The next
screen lets you allocate RAM to the virtual machine on which
we’re going to run Raspberry Pi Desktop. As the recommended size is
1024MB, and that’s the amount offered by default, just click Continue
unless you really want to change it.
