YouTube is great for watching video content created by both professionals and
enthusiastic amateurs. Although YouTube (which is owned by Google) does its
best to keep blatantly pornographic, intensely violent, or hate-peddling videos off
the site, you might well want to use parental controls to make sure your children
don’t come across content they should not see. Here’s how to do it.
Set Up Restrictions in the YouTube App

If the YouTube app – or indeed,
YouTube in a web browser – is used
without actually logging into YouTube, then
adult content is mostly blocked. In short, you
have to sign in with your Google account to
watch this material.

If you’re signed in on YouTube, but
your kids use your phone to watch
videos, you might want to set up restrictions.
First of all, open the YouTube app and tap
your photo in the top right corner.

On the next screen, tap the Settings
link, which is found towards the
bottom of the list of options on your Account
screen. It’s the one with the Cog icon; tap it
to go to your Settings screen.
