Don’t be put off by the

slightly silly name – Vectorify

da home! is a handy little

tool, particularly if you’re

a fan of stylish mini malist

wallpapers. It le ts you design

your very own home-screen

wallpaper for your phone

or table t. Choose from a

selection of smart-looking

material-design icons and

background s, then customise

their colours so your

wallpaper looks exactly the

way you want.

The interface is quick

and easy to use (see our

Mini Worksh op, right,

for a step-b y-step guide),

which allows you to create a

smart wallpaper design in seconds. You can

choose from dozens of icons – or, if you prefer a

solid backgroundwith no icon, simply select the same

colour for the icon and the background , and the icon

will disappear.

Vectorify turns your creations into live wallpaper, which

allows them to upda te faster an d keeps permissions to a

mini mum – live wallpapers don’t

require storagepermissions, for

example. However, your custom

wallpapers are static vector images

(hence th e ‘Vectorify’ bit of th e

name), which means they won’t

drain your ba ttery as some

standard live wallpapers do.

If we have one criticism , it’s that

the custom isation options are

somewhat limited. Icons always

appearin the middle of th e screen,

and you can’t add more th an one

icon at a ti me. This may changein

future re leases, because the

developers suggestthey will

add further feat ures asthe

app evolves. The app is

open-source, too,

(see our cover feat ure on page40), so you can

follow, or even contribute to, its development

Launch the app and

select one of the icons

from thetop part of the

screen.^1 The selection

isn’t limitedto the handful

right across thisstrip to

scroll through dozens more

options.When you find an

icon you lik e, press itto

select it.

To set the background

or iconcolour, press the

Background or Icon button,

then either choose one of

the preselectedcolours, or

swipe leftto fine-tune the

colour using either the RGB

sliders^1 or – ifyou know it

• by entering the HEX
  colour code into the box
  above.^2 Tap OK.^3
  Alternatively,you can select
  one of the Presetcolour
  schemes shown below the
  Background and Icon
  buttons.

To see a full-screen preview

of your wallpaper, tap the

tick button (bottom right).

To make further changes,

press thecog icon.^1 If
