I usedtohavea Freeserve email

address butwas forcedto switchto

Outlook when the service closed down.

Now when Iwanttocheckmyemail,I

havetoclicktosign in, then sign out and

back in again usingmyOutlook details

before I can accessit.

I’ve triedtochange the old address in

Settingsbycreating an alias, but Outlook

won’t let me because it’s a point of

contact in case Microsoftwantstoinform

me of any problems withmyaccount.

Microsoft hasmydetails and must

surely know that Freeserve no longer

exists, so why can’t I change it?

Acouple ofweeks ago,I

downloaded and installeda

largeWindows10 update. Until then

I’d had no problems withWindows

updates, but this time it seemsto

havedeleted LibreOffice (www.

libreoffice.org). The office suite is no

longer listed in theStart menu, the

desktop icon has disappeared and the

list of programs in theControlPanel

mentions only a LibreOffice 6.2 Help

pack.

I’ve checkedmyDocumentsfolder,

and allmyletters and other documents

arestill there,but their icons have

changedtoWfor MicrosoftWord.

When I open them, they look as if

they’re tryingtoopenfor acouple of

seconds, then they disappear. I’mvery

annoyed,tosay the least.

If I download a newversion of

LibreOffice,doyou thinkmy

documents will change backtothe

waytheywerebefore the update?

I’ve triedtofind asystemrestore point,

but I can’t see one.

Next, downloadthe latestversion of

LibreOffice, but beforeyou install it,

openthe Settingsapp andsearchfor

‘controlled folderaccess’. Click it in

the searchresults andturnit off inthe

nextwindow –it can cause problems

with LibreOffice when enabled.Install

LibreOffice andit shouldbefine.

Something has definitelyhappened

to yourcopyofLibreOffice.It looks

asif it’s beendeletedor uninstalled,and

the document icons havereturnedto

the defaults.Reinstallingit shouldsolve

the problem,but first open Settings,

Apps anduninstall anythingrelatingto

LibreOffice,including helpfiles.

Change the default email address to a different one in Outlook.com

You can associateseveral email

addresseswith aMicrosoftaccount,but

one of themistreatedasyourprimary

contact, andthatone isdeemedthe

mostimportant.
