Aircraft Edition
To simulate the exhaust staining, I first airbrushed a misted application of A.MIG-1002 ‘Track Wash’ that
had been diluted with Abteilung 502 ABT112 ‘Matt Effect Thinner’. I did not only trace longitudinal streaks
along the fuselage sides, but also added a few subtle transverse streaks.
Next, I added some mud effects using Tamiya ‘Weathering Sticks’. I mixed the compound with water at
different ratios and flicked it onto the surfaces that were either dry or previously dampened with water.
The wheels and landing gear were dirtied using the same products and technique.
The ‘soot’ was reproduced with Mr.Hobby H12 ‘Flat Black’. To get a dull finish, I diluted it with MIG
Productions P263 ‘Universal Thinner for Acrylics’.
The final shape and appearance of these stains was created with a wet brush and cotton buds, which were
used in rolling and tapping motion.
The weathering process was now finished, and I only had to add some details. The antenna wire was made
from A.MIG-8018 ‘Rigging fine 0.3mm’ that had been installed in some previously drilled apertures.
I also glued the landing gear position indicators (sourced from Eduard set)... ...and the extended footsteps.
