GWENDOLINE
CHRISTIE
Supporting Actress
in a Drama
Game of Thrones (HBO)
You decided to
submit yourself for an
Emmy after the
network didn’t. Why?
For everything the
character Brienne of Tarth
represents: a woman
outside the patriarchy,
a woman with a deep
sensitivity. Also
I worked really hard.
Are you happy with how
her story concluded?
Very. I love that she
got something she really
wanted: being made
a knight. And that
Brienne has this romantic
moment with Jaime
and it’s her choice.
What was your
last day like?
Alfie Allen [who played
Theon Greyjoy] sent me
flowers in the morning—
that made me emotional.
I was just weeping over
every single moment.
