Truckin’ Life – August 2019

(Romina) #1
it back out in the shed. If there was a
rainy day, we would on work on it and do
a little bit. We did it all ourselves except
for the cab and the paint. We didn’t do
the mudguards or bumper bar. David
Gascoigne in Balranald did those.”
Ray and Rod applied the paint and
John Conroy did the scroll work. The
interior looks like a brand-new truck with
the seats being done in Swan Hill. Roy
Mann in Balranald did the remainder of
the interior panels.
The sun visor was in a bad way and
John couldn’t buy one so Roy Mann

manufactured one.
“They knew their job. That’s what they
do! The end result is fantastic, I’ve taken
the B model to Alice Springs to the Road
Transport Hall of Fame and had a great
time, a terrific experience!”
Unbeknown to John, Keren had
nominated John into the Road Transport
Hall of Fame in 2015 and got a huge
surprise when his name was called out
and he was inducted.
There is no doubt that the Carmichaels
are a very proud trucking family with
a very proud history in catering to the

needs of farmers and graziers. Keren runs
a very tight ship and undertakes all the
office work, permits and accreditations.
“If we didn’t provide a service, we
wouldn’t be here. We love what we do.
We love dealing with all involved in the
stock industry, it has been good to us,”
smiled Keren.
The Carmichaels are justly proud of
their bulldogs and love good looking rigs.
The new Titans have super chrome rims
and have been painted in Carmichael
colours and are very worthy Rigs of the
Month.
