Truckin’ Life – August 2019

(Romina) #1
A conga line of caravans, four wheel
drives and utes heading towards the
Amamoor State Forest outside of
Gympie can only mean one thing – it’s
Muster time.
And while there are plenty of ‘Musters’
around Australia, there’s only one that
goes by just “The Muster” and that’s
the Gympie Music Muster running from
August 22-25.
Much has been said about “The Muster”
in this column over the years and for
those who have been, there’s nothing like
camping in the great outdoors with 20,000
of your closest country music friends.
In previous years, the “The Muster”
has had a strong Aussie only content but
this year, organisers are answering the

call for more overseas acts to add to the
event’s diversity.
American singing star and small screen
‘hunk’ Chase Rice will be leading the
foreign “invasion” along with country
bluegrass rockers Hayseed Dixie, US
blues artist Micki Free and Canadians
Amy Nelson and The Dungarees.
However they will be pushed to their
limits by Aussie stars including Kasey
Chambers, The McClymonts, James
Blundell, Felicity Urquhart, Luke O’Shea,
Kevin Bennet and The Flood, Tex
Perkins, Renee Geyer, The Viper Creek
Band, the Davidson Brothers Jetty Road,
Chad Morgan, Col Finley, Brad Cox and
Simply Bushed to name just some of the
impressive line –up.

Of course there will be everything from
bluegrass to blues, ballads to country
rock, bus poetry and line dancing – after
all this is the “The Muster”.
There are activities and events for
all ages, talent quest, songwriters
in the round and plenty to keep you
entertained.
Come for a day, the weekend or set up
camp now, you won’t be alone.
This is an institution and one of the
major country music events in Australia.
If you have never been, don’t die
wondering and do yourself a favour and
head to Amamoor and find out what
everyone is raving about.
