The other big news for this month is the
release of our first-ever book! Street Machine
Legends Volume One is on sale now and
celebrates some of the most iconic carsfeatured during the first 20 years of the mag.
There is a bit of a sneak preview on page 10
to give you an idea of what’s inside.
To narrow down the field for the book, we
did a shout-out on social media, asking which
cars should make the cut. We got a massive
response and enough car suggestions to fill
many, many books. We whittled that down
further to just 62 cars.
With 20 years of history to play with, the
selection process was agonising! To get a
guernsey, the cars needed to be full feature
cars in the first 20 years of the mag. That
means the likes of John Peterson’s mighty
Zephyr or Pat Fay’s FJ aren’t in there. Others
missed out because there just weren’tenough quality images left in our archives.
But never fear – the plan is to cover the
next 20 years in Volume Two and then start
work on a more ambitious project that will
delve deep into the history of our sport
and recognise the contributions of JP, Pat
and the many other legends who helped to
establish what we have today.
Street Machine Legends Volume One is
dedicated to the memory of Street Machine’s
founding editor, Geoff Paradise. We thank
Geoff for laying down the DNA that flows
through the book and pay tribute to all of
the photographers, journos, editors, artists
and feature car owners whose hard yakka
has provided an incredible legacy for future
generations to enjoy.
