Vintage Rock – September-October 2019

are always about the experience. We’ve done
the big resort thing and had fun, but it’s time
to bring it home and listen to the music in
a venue that is a bit more in context. The
old honky-tonk dancefloor at the Nashville
Palace is perfect for that. We don’t need to
be the biggest event; we just want to be one
of the best.”
Acts already confirmed for Nashville
Boogie 2020 include the original line-up
of Levi & The Rockets, Tiger Army and
The Hi-Jivers. Tickets and information for
next year’s Nashville Boogie and the Music
Valley Jamboree weekender, an additional
event planned for 8-9 November 2019, are
available at nashvilleboogie.com. 9

Ronnie Spector performed a crowd-pleasing
number of vintage Ronettes songs

as the headlining act of this year’s Boogie,
the band’s love of mid-century American
kitsch and the girl group sound made them
a perfect fit for Nashville Boogie’s more
egalitarian view of the retro-rock sound.
For those with a hillbilly bent, an
alternative finale was offered at the Nashville
Palace where Music City favourites The
Cowpokes opened the evening of music and
Mic Roulette’s Rockabilly Roundup provided
the perfect closer for the weekend with
a dizzying array of guest stars and artists

taking the stage to perform as an all-star
band, creating a dance party that continued
to the early hours of the morning.
Sunday also provided the biggest surprise
of the weekend with the announcement
that 2020’s Nashville Boogie will be held 2-4
October and located at the Nashville Palace
and Scoreboard properties exclusively with
accommodations in nearby hotels. Tickets
will be limited to only 1,000 attendees.
