aking waves with her stellar performance
in the biopic Neerja, Sonam Kapoor
has itfully come to age in the world
of ground-breaking performances.
And while she continues to reign as
the queen of experimental style and
serendipitous red-carpet trends (and
her neo-acting career side by side),
Kapoor in the end reiterates what is in the heart of every girl in
the world—believing in the idea of love and happy beginnings—
much like every BAZAAR bride. In this special rendezvous,
amidst the glorious backdrops of Israel, she embraces life and
romance to the hilt in a ierce feminine style. YOUR IDEA OF A
DREAM MAN? I think anybody who is kind, who is a good person,
and who is compassionate and idealistic. Someone who is loyal
and really loves their partner. It’s not about being tall, dark, or
handsome. It’s not about money. It’s not
about all of those things. It’s the qualities
that make a man a real man. AND YOUR
IDEA OF A PERFECT DATE? Dinner and
a movie. Or a really long walk together.
WHO WOULD YOU WANT THAT DATE
TO BE WITH? Honestly, I would love
the date to be with my future husband.
I want to meet the person I will spend
the rest of my life with. Hopefully one
day, I can. For now, I like spending a
lot of time with myself and with my
books. Thing is, when you read something
really beautiful, you fall in love with
the characters. And you fall in love with
the qualities of that character—not the
way they look but what they stand for,
which I think is lovely. SUPPOSE, YOU
FOUND YOUR MAN. IN WHAT MANNER
WOULD YOU LIKE HIM TO PROPOSE TO YOU?I don’t know... I
haven’t really thought about it. MAYBE ON HIS KNEES OR AS A
BIG SURPRISE? Honestly, I don’t know. Maybe I’ll propose instead.
Why should the man always be the one to propose? I mean it
would be really romantic—no doubt about that—but I don’t
know what will happen when I meet him. Depends on who I
am with. It depends on your relationship as well. WHO IS THAT
ONE MAN YOU HAVE CONTINUALLY ADMIRED AS A MENTOR IN
YOUR LIFE? My father. In fact, I aspire to be like my father. He has
been my inspiration always. AND YOUR FAVOURITE MALE ACTOR?
My dad again (laughs). If I had to pick someone internationally,
I would go with the likes of Al Pacino. Dustin Hofman. Marlon
Brando. You pick the greats. YOUR FAVOURITE MALE CO-STAR?
It’s a really diicult question, but I would say Salman Khan. WHAT
PUTS YOU OFF IN A MAN? Dishonesty and lack of ambition. I don’t
mean in terms of making money or gaining power. Ambition is
just for yourself. So I feel that the lack of ambition and a lack of
purpose really relects on the kind of man a person is. And lack of
morals and ideals go side by side. I’m not the biggest fan of men
who are very weak, who don’t know what they want, and don’t
stand up for the right thing. I don’t like cowards at all. WHO WAS
YOUR FIRST CRUSH EVER? Leonardo DiCaprio. TITANIC WAS IT?
No. There was this ilm called This Boy’s Life that I found quite
amazing. WHO IS YOUR MALE BEST FRIEND? There are couple in
fact. There is Kunal Rawal. Then there is Vir Raina. Also Karan
Boolani, and Rishabh Lunawat. HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT AND
PLANNED FOR YOUR OWN WEDDING? It’ll be a traditional Hindu
wedding. And I think the cultural and traditional ceremonies are
quite beautiful. But one thing I know is that I want a small and
intimate wedding. I don’t like the idea of big weddings. I would
only like my immediate family and very close friends to be present
when I do tie the knot. AND WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ADVICE TO
THE GROOMS WHO READ THE MAGAZINE? Be good people. And
love and respect the woman you’re going to spend the rest of your
life with. And whether she takes or doesn’t take your name, she
has decided to share her life with you.
That should be a huge privilege and it
is something you should never take for
granted. DO YOU THINK CHIVALRY IN
RELATIONSHIPS IS ALIVE IN THIS DAY
AND DATE? The deinition of chivalry is
very diferent from what it used to mean
traditionally. I think a relationship is about
taking care of each other and sometimes,
good manners is just an extension of
that. YOU JUST LAUNCHED YOUR NEW
APP. TELL US ABOUT IT. It’s something
I decided to do because I wanted to
be closer to the people who follow my
work and who follow me. It was a way
of expressing myself. I’m very proud of
it. IS IT GREAT FOR THE BRIDES-TO-BE AS
WELL? Absolutely. They would ind great
tips, tricks, trends, and advice inside for
their wedding styling needs. THIS BEING OUR BEAUTY SPECIAL
ISSUE, WHAT DOES BEAUTY MEAN TO YOU? I don’t think there
is a speciic deinition for beauty. Beauty is something I am very
fascinated by—I like beautiful things. Though it is old, the saying
that “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” rings true for me.
Everything in this world is beautiful as long as you see it in the
right way. It is the eye that gauges beauty in everything. YOU LOOK
RADIANT ALWAYS. WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY REGIME LIKE? Not
much really. I just drink a lot of water. I believe in a clean-living
philosophy. I eat very clean and I don’t have any bad habits; I
don’t smoke or drink. And in the end, it is just about taking care
of yourself. IF WE LOOKED INTO YOUR PURSE RIGHT NOW, WHAT
BEAUTY PRODUCTS WOULD WE FIND? I just have sun block and
lip balm (when I’m not working). FINALLY, YOU HAVE BEEN OUR
FIRST EVER COVERGIRL, AND NOW YOU ARE GRACING IT THIRD
TIME RUNNING. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT BAZAAR BRIDE? I
love the magazine. It has been wonderful working with BAZAAR
BRIDE and with you. Hopefully, I will once again return on the
cover, and this time, as a bride.
Maybe I’ll
propose instead.
Why should the
man always be
the one to
propose in a
relationship?
