W

ith its inviting
kaleidoscope of colours
and a lovely scent of fl oral
fruity herbs, it’s almost
impossible to not recognise
the signature cues of the Lush brand. As I exited
the elevator to their offi ce space, the familiar
scent of Lush products that wafted in the air
reassured me that I was at the right place.
Lush’s famed approach of selling its products
harkens back to a time of its birth in 1995.
Inspired by fresh fruit markets—with its big
rounds of cheese—delis and sweet shops,
products like bath bombs are purposely stacked
‘naked’ to resemble fruits at the market, ready to
be picked up and wrapped for each customer.
The unique decor isn’t just for design, but
also part of their campaign to advocate against
plastic pollution. Aiming to reuse and recycle,
Lush encourages buyers to return their black pots.
Made from 100 per cent recycled material, Lush
promises that for every fi ve iconic pots brought
back, a Fresh Face Mask will be given.
Pushing the stakes even further, the company
introduces Knot Wraps to replace their cardboard
boxes and wrapping paper. These vibrant coloured
cloths were inspired by a traditional Japanese
wrapping cloth called furoshiki. Made from
recyclable materials like plastic bottles, organic
cotton and recycled vintage scarves, consumers
can give the gift of fresh, handmade products with
a side of cultural diversity.
Plus in an effort to reduce excessive packaging
on its products, Lush recently launched its Naked
Skincare line. In the words of Lush Malaysia
director, Harvinder Harchand: “Going naked is
best—no packaging needed.” All the products
within the Naked line are in solid form to reduce
excessive packaging, even the facial oils are
solid! According to Harvinder, the goal is to
provide high-quality products without the pretty
packaging. But whether you loathe or lovethem,
it’s hard to deny the fresh and unique qualitythat
encompasses Lush—find it at Pavilion KL.
