Defying the Odds
Two go-getters who broke boundaries and went against
all odds to inspire and motivate others

Determined not to let her disabilities get
the best of her, she made a vow to live her
life to the fullest.
“I was helping my parents in our pepper
farm when I had a terrible fall,” she said.
“After the incident, the doctor told me I
had injured my spinal cord. Even though I
could have remained unhappy, I chose to
accept my disabilities and continued living
my life.”
Yet, Law never wanted anyone to
sympathise with her. She remained
determined to spread the message that
she was still able to do anything an able
person could. She found the opportunity to
convey this message when she bagged fi fth
place at the 2000 Paralympic Games. The
impressive victory made Law realise that
differently abled people need a motivating
