toDato’SriJeffreywhohadhisheartsetontheitemeven

beforeenteringtheAstorballroom.Dato’SriJeffreyconfided

tousaftertheevent,“Asacigaraficionado,winningthebid

onthecigarswasfantasticbutatthesametime,Ialsogetto

play my part in the charity auction.”

The intense night began to wind down when Nicholas Bloy

can be heard calling out, “Shut it down,” as the fi nal bid of the

evening closed, and marked the end of one part of the night.

Guests applauded the RM 4.5 million which was collected—

far surpassing the intended goal of RM 3.5 million! Humbled

yet proud, committee co-chairwoman Lee Jim Leng was

enthusiastic as she stated, “I’m proud to witness the real spirit

of giving and philanthropy in Malaysia.”

One of the successful bidders of the night, Dato’ Eric Ong

with his wife Datin Kate Ong at his side, shared, “We’re happy

to contribute to society through this charitable cause.” The

guests then headed towards the grand ballroom upstairs,

where an elegant setting of candles and white fl owers awaited,

as dinner and more merriment were about to begin.
