handbag. I bought it from a New
York store called New to You. I also
collect Hermès scarves. I have one
that belonged to my mother, which
is about 40 years old.
Are you a hoarder or do you
regularly clear out your wardrobe?
I’m a ruthless declutterer. I’m quite
Marie Kondo and don’t have much
sentiment. My mum recently
moved into my house and she’s a
terrible hoarder, so we clash about
that. One Christmas I came home
after a holiday to find my water
tank had burst, destroying two
floors of my house. I had to throw
so much away and it made me
realise that other than jewellery,
everything is replaceable.
What is the most expensive item
in your wardrobe? A Catherine
Walker dress I was given by a
friend. It’s an oyster slip-style
evening dress that she
bought as her wedding dress
but it was a disastrous
marriage and she couldn’t
bear to look at it and so
gave it to me. I’ve got so
much wear out of it.
How much do you
spend on clothes
a month? Every season
I buy one really good
investment piece, like a
Peter O’Brien coat, and
then fill the rest in with
high-street purchases.
A good coat dresses
up anything.
How many shoes
and handbags do
you own? Too many
shoes. I have very
big feet and when
I was younger
I could never find
shoes that fit. So
now, when I find
shoes in my

size that I can walk in, I get excited
and have to buy them. I always use
a big handbag and am guilty of
overpacking them.
What is your best beauty secret?
I love getting eyelash extensions
done. If I’m tired, they instantly
make you look more awake, and
it’s one less thing to worry about.
I also love the perfume called
Escentric Molecules 01.
What is your best piece of fashion
advice? Know your style and which
decade suits you and don’t be
swayed by what’s hot now. And
don’t be afraid of colour.
