nspired by designer Maha Abdul Rasheed’s love of vintage and
the “elegant fl air of the past”, Bambah’s ready-to-wear
debut is a delicious foray into femininity. With a remit to
“make women beautiful by accentuating their fi gures,” she looks to
Christian Dior, “the genius who mastered nipped-in waists and full
skirts.” Drawing on her Middle Eastern clients who “love to dress up
and experiment with fashion,” and the fairy tale elegance of Grace Kelly,
it is the motto of Maha’s grandmother to “laugh a lot, move a lot and
always have fun being you,” that truly inspired the 40-piece collection.
Consisting of four stories – Orchid Daydream, Duchess Blossom,
Midnight Noir and Vivid Grace – it’s a happy, lively handmade collection
of oversized ruffl es, bows, fl owers and polka dots that lets fashion be
frivolous. Or, as Maha puts it, “pretty dresses for pretty ladies”.
