CLEARAUDIO SMART POWER 12V

Clearaudio has released the Smart Power 12V, a battery-based d.c. pow-
er supply designed to improve the performance of Clearaudio Concept
Series and Performance DC turntables. When it’s being used to power
a compatible Clearaudio turntable, the Smart Power 12V completely
isolates the turntable’s electronics from the mains power supply, whilst
it delivers a clean, exact 12 volts of direct current to the
turntable. ‘The Clearaudio Smart Power 12 provides clean power
that is independent of the voltage variability and inherent noise
of the mains supply,’ said Nigel Ng, of Advance Audio, which
distributes Clearaudio in Australia. ‘With minimal output im-
pedance, it delivers a steady, stable voltage, allowing your Concept
or Performance DC turntable to maintain perfect speed stability.
It can be set to switch automatically from battery play mode into
recharging mode and even in its recharging mode it will continue
to enhance your turntable’s performance and protect it from short
circuits and power surges.’
When used with the Clearaudio’s Concept turntable, the
Smart Power 12V not only provides the turntable’s motor

with pure, clean d.c., but also that turntable’s on-board phono stage.
Availablenow,theClearaudioSmartPower12Vretailsfor$1,295.

LUMIN D

STREAMER

Lumin has released a new entry-level network music streamer with
both analogue and digital audio outputs called the Lumin D2, which it
says ‘improves on the hugely successful D1’ in that it has a faster proces-
sor that plays back DSD128 5.6MHz, twin Wolfson WM8741 DACs,
a compact, solid aluminium chassis, and doesn’t require a separate
outboard power supply. The Lumin D2 can play all high-resolution
formats including MQA, DSD, FLAC, WAV, PCM... and not only has
native support for Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify and AirPlay built in, but also
Roon.‘TheLuminD2hasalltheconnections,inputsandoutputsyoucan

LUMIN POWER AMP

Lumin equipment is undeniably beautiful-looking, but until now,
you’ve not been able to buy a matching power amplifier. The new
Lumin AMP power amplifier is a perfect cosmetic match with many
Lumin components and exactly the same width and depth as several
of the company’s network streamers.
Rated with a power output of 160-watts per channel into 8Ω,
320-watts per channel into 4Ω and 640-watts into 8Ω if you bridge
the left and right channels for mono operation, the new Lumin power
AMP is a linear Class-AB d.c.-coupled design with fully discrete voltage
and current gain stages and built-in overload, thermal and d.c. protec-
tion that’s powered by a single custom-made toroidal transformer. ‘The
Lumin AMP is a true dual mono design,’ said Aleksandar Maksimovic
of Audio Magic, which distributes Lumin in Australia. ‘Keeping the
design dual mono means the Lumin Amp will deliver full power simultane-
ously from both channels and keeps crosstalk to an absolute minimum. The
topology of the amplifier circuit is such that each channel is a mirror image
of the other.’
Lumin rates the frequency response of the Lumin AMP at 20Hz–
40kHz (±0.1dB) and the signal-to-noise ratio at 103dB (unweighted),
while it says the low 0.1Ω output impedance delivers a damping factor
of 80 referred to 8Ω. Input sensitivity is 1.16V. Available now, the
LuminPowerAmpretailsfor$19,990.
