who, what, where, when,
why,howwithowleyes
Who never fails to make you smile? It's got to
be Larry David. What would people be surprised
to learn about you?I’m obsessed with crime
podcasts – mainlyMy Favorite Murder. I also used
to bingeCasefile, but it started to make me feel
super-weird. And I love the TV showForensic Files,
even though it scares the hell out of me.Where
do you go to clear your mind?I like to sit by the
ocean. In my day-to-day life, I love doing reformer
pilates, because it makes me concentrate on
just one thing. When did you first take up music?
I took music lessons when I was 12 years old to
overcome my shyness. My parents were pretty
surprised when I started singing, because before
then, I couldn’t even sing in front of them! Why
did you choose music as a career? It chose me –
I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Pop music
is just what comes naturally to me.How do you get
through a massive hangover?Lie flat on the couch
and order Pidapipo ice-cream shop’s hazelnut
flavour. I’m not very good at being hungover.
squint clothing
Supposedly ‘squint’ is a Scottish word for something
that’s a bit askew or off-kilter – but when we look
at this sun dress from Melbourne-via-Edinburgh
maker Ellie Vallely (aka Squint), we just see a tonne
of playfulness with some attitude thrown in. It’s big,
brash and dainty all at once, like a lady in the ’80s
took to the sewing machine with a table cloth, and
we reckon it’s pretty dang ace. If you feel the same,
visit squintclothing.com for more feminine-yet-
tomboyish goodies.
spooky blooms
Ghosts get a bad rap.
They enter a room and
folks go wailing into the
night. They’re forever
accused of keeping us
awake with creaking
floors and clinking chains.
Dogs bark when they’re
nearby; gawky dudes
band together to squirt
them with slime. And yet,
asLorien Stern proves,
all they want is to dutifully
hold onto some floral
stems, like the good little
spectres they are. Willing
to give a spook a chance?

we have two up for grabs.
kenmark
eyewear
Yeah, OK, we know.
Whenever you buy
fancy sunglasses they’re
guaranteed to be lost or
sat on within months of
purchase. You’ll just have to
be more careful with these
ones, right? They’re the new
Gemma Styles x Kenmark
Eyewear range, and they’re
a little bit rock ‘n’ roll, with
every pair named for an
iconic track – think David
Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel”,
Electric Light Orchestra’s
“Evil Woman” and Guns N’
Roses’ “Paradise City”. Like
what you see? Nab them

daily dishonesty
Confession: sometimes we write tasks on our to-do lists that we’ve
already completed, just to make ourselves feel productive. It’s a
harmless white lie – much like these hand-lettered sentiments
from Lauren Hom. Featured on the covers of her Daily Dishonesty
notebooks, they might give you a symbolic kick up the butt, or
convince you everything is going to be OK. In either case, you can
nab a set of three for around $15 at fredaldous.co.uk
