I'm worried about what my colleagues think
about me since coming to work after maternity
leave as some of them don't have children.
Firstly, don't worry about what other people might
be thinking as you will never know. If your manager
has agreed different working hours or made
allowances for you because you're now a mum,
then that's at their own discretion. It can be really
difficult to settle back into work again but try not to
worry about your colleagues, you may find that you
just need to re-establish friendships/connections
again or make new ones. Remember that you are
still a person and becoming a mum is an amazing
and wonderful gift but you are still you and you
don't need to talk about your little one. Sometimes
we lose ourselves a bit when we have a baby so
maybe spend some time doing things for you and
things you love.
I don't feel comfortable or confident about
anything I wear and it's really getting me down,
a whole new wardrobe isn't an option.
Ok so the first thing you need to do is set aside a
day because this needs your full attention.. Get all
of your clothes out of the wardrobe, drawers,
downstairs cupboard, suitcase, loft.. Everything you
own including shoes and coats needs to be put on
your bed so you can see it all there. The next thing
to do is pick up each item and see how you feel
about it, do you love it? If so keep it, if you're not
sure because it's too big, small, has tags on,
sentimental but you don't wear it then ditch it,
somethings you may pick up immediately and
know you don't want them, all the maybes and nos
go to the charity shop. Sounds brutal because it is
but I promise you that you will feel better. So now
you have clothes that you love, it's not about
quantity, I'm sure there will be some jems there,
who cares if you wear that demin jacket everyday
or that tshirt every week - Don't worry about
fashion and trends. Once you have a pile of all that
you love see what you can mix and match, smart
and casual. You can dress things up and down,
don't save clothes for special occasions! Don't be
afraid of colour or wearing sequins during the day.
