YOU DON'T NEED A
BEACH BODY
BY STEVE GIBBS
I don’t know about you but male or female, it’s easy to let the pressure get to us
about looking ‘right’ for summer. Everywhere you look, there are adverts for the
best holiday clothing, the best make up or generally external influences in one way
or another trying to tell us that however we are feeling about our bodies right now,
probably isn’t good enough. There doesn’t seem to be much that says that: as long
as you feel good, that is what matters.
So many of my clients have long term fitness goals that we’ve agreed then this
happens like clockwork, every year. They’ve booked a holiday, it’s in four weeks
and they want to feel good when they go and its my job to get them there. Or
they’ve just had a wedding invite and they want to look fabulous for the big day.
Whether its your tummy, thighs, arms or generally just to simply feel good before
you go, you can make a difference in four weeks but, the best thing you can do is
start today, even if you don’t have a specific deadline.
The first bit of advice I would give
you is to look at what you eat. All of
the obvious steps should be taken
such as cutting out bread, pasta,
refined sugars and generally high
crab, high sugar foods. In my
experience, the best way to make any
transformation is to focus not on
losing weight but, on toning up.
If you’re ‘really good and never snack’
- get snacking. Three snacks of
around 100 calories and 10-15g of
protein in each of them will not only
give you energy but also the much-
needed protein that will complement
the exercises you’re going to do.
Three meals, three snacks and three
litres of water every day alongside
your exercise routine. Not only will
people tell you look so well and that
you’ve lost weight but, you will feel it
too.
TIP # 1
My second bit of advice would be to
put a workout programme in place.
This doesn’t have to be complex and
you can even ask me for a basic daily
workout. Or even better, come along
to one of my group workout sessions.
By exercising specific muscles and
burning calories on a daily basis,
you’ll feel the difference. I guarantee
it.
TIP # 2
By doing all of the above, you also get
a free gift! New skin takes around 28
days to regenerate. The cells need
food and nutrition to grow the skin.
Make that food the best it can be,
drink the three litres of water a day
and your new skin will shine through.
