WARRING FENCERS

Digital Su-24M
By: Foxbot Decals Item no: 48-029
Price: £16.70 Web: foxbot.com.ua

Designed for Trumpeter’s impressive
1/48 Su-24M Fencer-D, this Foxbot
product is from its ‘Warriors of
Light’ series, depicting aircraft from
the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
It comes on three decal sheets,
with all markings printed on satin
carrier film, which should minimise
silvering. Register and opacity are
excellent, notably on the unit insignia
and warning placards (with yellow
backgrounds) and enough stencils
are supplied for one airframe.
The colour drawings provide clear
guidance on decal placement, while
also giving accurate references
for the four-tone camouflage
and equivalent paints in RAL and
FS codes, plus Vallejo Model Air
products. Separate mask sets are
available for the digital camouflage
on each of the two Lutsk-based
airframes, White 20 and White 41, as
they appeared in 2016 (FM48-005
and FM48-006 respectively).

CVR(T) and Scorpion 90 Part 2
By: Star Decals
Item no: 35-C-1202 Price: £6.50
Web: http://www.star-decals.net

Star Decals’ second collection of
Alvis CVR(T) Scorpion variants
covers vehicles operated by
Spain, Nigeria, Togo, Chile,
Venezuela and Honduras. While
most can be used on AFV
Club/Accurate Armour kits,
the Scorpion 90s will require
a conversion set to depict
the larger turret and 90mm
main armament. National
modifications are noted where
possible; references will be vital
when modelling most of these

machines. Six schemes are
specified, but when alternative
vehicles are considered, there
are 11 decal options:

TONKA FAREWELL
RAF Tornado GR.4 Special and
Retirement Schemes
By: Xtradecal
Item no: X72310 Price: £ 7. 9 9
Web: http://www.hannants.co.uk

Xtradecal was quick off the mark
with its Tornado retirement
decals – one each in the markings
of 31 and IX(B) Squadrons and
the third in retro camouflage and
painted with the crests of all RAF
units to operate the type, along
with five additional airframes.
Four are Tornados, honouring
the 100th anniversaries of 41(R)
Tactical Evaluation Squadron
(TES) and the RAF, plus aircraft
commemorating 40 years of
Panavia and 30 years of the
Tornado. The final option caters
for a 617 Squadron F-35B, ZM148.
Note the retirement markings
are also available in 1/48 scale
(X48204), but modellers will
need to use either kit/aftermarket
stencils. There are eight schemes:

  • ZD716/DH, 31 Sqn, RAF Marham,
    March 2019

  • ZG752, RAF Marham Air Wing,
    March 2019

Supermarine Spitfire LF.Vb/VIII/IXe
‘Sexy Spitfires’
By: Exito Decals Item no: ED48003
Price: €12.75 Web: http://www.exito.site

Exito Decals is a new company to
AMW, but its initial releases are
stunning, and its first Spitfire set
features three of the comparatively
few machines to receive nose
artwork, with one example each
of an LF.Vb, LF.XIII and LF.IX. The
decal sheet is dwarfed by the A4
placement/colour guides/profiles
(all of which can double as posters),
and there’s a piece of thick card to
prevent them being folded/creased.

Printed by Cartograf, the markings
feature the firm’s trademark high-
quality illustrations, plus perfect
register and sharp demarcations,
notably on the RAF roundels, while
the nose art is replicated faithfully.
The airframes are:

  • LF.Vb, EN921/YO-A, Fg Off Jack
    Sheppard, 401 Sqn RCAF, RAF
    Redhill/Staplehurst/Biggin Hill,
    July-October 1943

  • LF.VIII, MT841/U, 2 Sqn RIAF, Kohat,
    British India, spring 1946

  • LF.IXe, TA864/LW-L, 318 (Gdański)
    Sqn, Plt Off Zdzisław Uchwat,
    Risano (near Udine), Italy, May-
    June 1945
