slightly different approach. The
first pin washes were applied via
various AMMO-MIG Oilbrusher
washes, from light to dark brown
shades. These were diluted
heavily before being applied, to
avoid swamping the detail and
making sure the turpentine-
based thinner did not adversely
affect the white-washed surfaces.
Selective rain and grime marks
were then added to the vehicle
sides using different hues from
the LP03 Rain and Dust Liquid
Pigment set – the thin nature
of these products offered
a realistic and controllable
extra layer of weathering. At
this stage, chipping effects
would usually be applied,
but due to the subject’s
small scale and overall
‘distressed’ nature of the
paint finish, these steps
were omitted.
Heavily diluted
XF-57 Flat Earth was
airbrushed onto
the vehicle sides to
provide a base for
pigment and spatter
effects, with special
emphasis on the
hull front and rear,
where mud and dirt
would naturally
accrue. Further
grime was added,

Dark Earth
pigments, with
a thin brush
used to get
into the
OKB Grigorov’s decals proved reluctant to adhere to the model and various decal setting
solutions were tried, before Mr. Mark Setter NEO finally achieved the desired results.
A combination of the AK Interactive chipping fluid and AMMO-MIG’s washable paint
produced a convincing weather-beaten whitewash.
