finely detailed but had positive
locating holes and the result
was a sturdy structure, much
like the real thing. Arma Hobby
provided choices of propeller and
spinner, so careful study of the
instructions was required – any
unused parts were a welcome
addition to the spares box. Lastly,
the radio mast was attached to
the fuselage, along with the HF
aerial wire (fashioned from elastic
thread) and with that the model
was completed.

Absolute delight
Arma Hobby may
have started as an
aftermarket company,
but its inaugural injection-
moulded kit is a stunning effort
and features excellent external
detail and fit. Just small amounts
of filler were needed and I’m sure
more pedantic modellers will be

able to fettle the seams such that
none would be required. Detail
in the cockpit was acceptable for
the scale and price range, with
the PE adding that little extra
for those who want it, but it’s
not a necessity. However, many
modellers will select the ‘Expert’

boxing just for the supplied
canopy masks. The only potential
negative concerned the overly
thick clear parts but again, those
unduly bothered with this aspect
could replace it with a vac-form
item or sand/polish the kit item.
In summary, Arma Hobby’s
Hurricane comes highly
recommended.

With the masks
removed the green tone
appeared too light – the
error wasn’t corrected
on this model, but the
hue was changed on the
‘Expert’ build. A layer
of gloss varnish readied
the model for decaling.

 The markings were applied without issue, and after a gloss varnish, an oil wash
accentuated the panel lines. A make-up sponge was used to remove any excess.

Lastly, a matt
varnish evened the
finish and muted the
various painting and
weathering elements.
