modellers. It’s absolutely possible
to build the wings separately and
slide them onto the spars if the
modeller so desires. There is no
need though, as the wings fitted
beautifully when assembled as

intended by the designers.
At this point it was necessary to
add the main undercarriage legs,
and here I chose not to use the
white metal items. Instead, the kit
parts were neatened and fitted

as directed, with the addition of
plastic card bracing struts, as they
were otherwise quite flexible.
Major construction was
completed by the addition of
the engine nacelles, which

came with several complex
join lines. Again the fit was
credible, but a little neatening
was necessary at the front and
rear edges. The engines were
partially assembled and sprayed

The numerous tiny PE boxes were painted
separately while still stuck to the masking tape
and were an improvement on the slightly soft
original detail. The effect of the wash combined
with a little dry-brushing were also evident.

As the ventral turret wasn’t fitted
to the aircraft being modelled, the
kit’s blanking plate was attached.
Unfortunately, the seam wasn’t
perfect and required the use of
plastic card and filler to resolve
this; the same was true of
the aft entrance door.

 To help provide additional fore and aft support, plastic card struts and braces were
added to the upper part of the main undercarriage legs. Brass legs or wire reinforcement
would be a genuine boon on this model.

 Lined up ready for assembly, the kit engine parts weren’t enhanced, given the limited
opportunity for viewing through that small cowl opening. That said, the multi-part assembly
was quite well detailed anyway.
