ISSUE 178 RACING AHEAD 15
He did make some headway before
being hampered and looks the type to
win a handicap over this sort of dis-
tance and he’s handicapped to run in
lesser company.
CALIBURN
(Second, 1m6f Class 2 Handicap, New-
market on July 12)
The game King’s Advice won this up
the rail and is another to keep a close
eye on as he looks capable of stepping
into pattern company.
As for Caliburn, it was a good effort
to finish just over two lengths off the
pace when maybe not quite getting
home over the punishing distance.
Either that, or the July course’s uphill
finish just proved a little too much.
That said, he was ahead of the other
15 runners well enough and travelled
strongly. So maybe a flatter track or
1m5f could pay dividends for Andrew
Balding’s four-year-old who hopefully
won’t be punished too much by the
handicapper.
