The Dewan Filharmonik Petronas hosts elegant classical pieces
by two talented Malaysian musicians this month. On 17 and 18
August, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) Youth Brand
Ambassador, pianist Tengku Irfan, will dazzle audiences with
Ravel’s Piano Concerto and two of Schumann’s works, together
with the MPO under the direction of conductor Jun Märkl. Märkl
and the orchestra return the following weekend for French Portraits
with Malaysian harpist Tan Keng Hong, featuring five pieces by
some of the most prominent French classical composers in history
- Fauré, Pierné, Ravel and Debussy. Both concerts begin at 8.
pm on Saturdays and at 3.00 pm on Sundays.
