WA LK THE L INE
We’ve seen negative-space eyeliner before,
but the popularity of delicately applied,
minimal lines streaking across bare skin this
season indicates this is a trend with staying
power. Time has made the look grow bolder,
too. Think zigzags and squiggles scrawled
from pupil to temple at Arthur Arbesser, long,
stick-thin strokes at Atlein, disconnected white
lines at 3.1 Phillip Lim and statement red wings
at Haider Ackermann. Keep the rest of your
makeup muted and matte to avoid looking
overdone. You want the lines to appear
purposeful, so a stable hand and a healthy
dose of self-confidence are essential in
minimising mess. Rest your elbow on a steady
surface and let your inner artist emerge.

FIRST FROST
Nothing refreshes a tired face like a touch of
snowy shadow in the inner corners of the
eyes, but try extending the white to the rest of
your lids. Disclaimer: getting it right can be
tricky, but we promise the eye-opening effect
will pay back your efforts tenfold. The key is
to keep the white shadow contained to the
lids only – applying it too high towards
the brow or too low towards the orbital bone
will make you look extraterrestrial. Use the
soft palette brushed on models at Brandon
Maxwell as inspiration. Nervous? Dip your
toe in with the tightlining technique by running
some white kohl along the lower waterline, try
a hit of white mascara à la Genny or opt for
silver in a subtle nod to the trend. Whichever
approach you take, wear it with verve.
