NO SNAGS

First up: checking the factory edge by

slicinga pieceof20-poundbondpaper.

The Tribe was very smooth at slicing

simplybyusingtheblade’sweight.There

were no snags or tears and the cuts

sounded very aggressive. Th e Suna sliced

just as forcefully. It cut the paper with no

tears or rips and was very controllable.

Next was double-walled cardboard.

Because of the high humidity on test

day, I fi gured the knives would tear the

cardboard. Th e Suna sliced smoothly

and aggressively without a single tear. It

is very sharp indeed. Th e Tribe followed

suit, forcefully cutting without tearing. It,

too, has a very sharp edge.

I had some pine kindling ready to

make fi re sticks. Th e Tribe created great,

smooth curlicues and was manageable.

Deep bites in the pine didn’t stop the

edge, but I noticed a small amount of

chop, and, when pushed, cut the end

of the tubing without tearing it.
