49 – Carl “Papa” Palmer lives in
Washington, USA and is retired from
the military and Federal Aviation
Administration. The Pushcart Prize
nominee is “Papa” to his grandchildren.


50 – Graham Bailey is a retired quality
manager from Yorkshire, England. He
is a member of a creative writing group
that meets at East Riding Theatre whose
input inspired the story included here.


52 – Lindy Newns is a writer whose
work has been published in Orbis,
L'Ephemere and Riggwelter. She has
been shortlisted for various awards.


54 – Jessica Kashdan-Brown is a
poet and writer based in Bath, having
graduated Warwick University Writing
Programme. Her poem is featured on a
lock along the Kennet and Avon canal.


56 – Daniel Whigham is a fantasy
writer. The Wind Feels Loss was
written after he heard an old Tibetan
superstition about ghosts that follow
newborn infants.


61 – Emma Hulonce is a 22-year-
old poet from Swansea, having been
inspired to write poetry after watching
The Simpsons' adaptation of Edgar
Allen Poe's The Raven.


62 – James Sapsard is a London-
based writer and digital artist. He has
published several books of poetry and
several screenplays. This Is...Unexpected
was written specifically about fantasy.


64 – Rowena Fishwick is a writer
whose work has appeared in Writer's
Forum and 1000-word challenge. She
is seeking representation for her debut
novel, Unsound.


72– Sy Brand is a queer non-binary
person living in Edinburgh, Scotland.
They write through a haze of sleep
deprivation to try to make sense of
gender, relationships and parenting.

74 – Emma Levin is from London. Her
comedy and sci-fi short stories have
appeared in anthologies, magazines and
many recycling bins. She blogs at:
ctrlaltdelay.blogspot.com.

76 – LA Pocock is based in Ribble
Valley, England. His poem Orchard is
about pregnancy loss and was written
for his daughter-in-law.
