THE SL X 150 series has seen another addition to the family in the
shape of the SL X DC. The SL X DC offers smarter, more efficient
lure casting under a variet y of circumstances at a price point never
seen before.
The SL X DC utilises Shimano’s Digital Control braking system as the star
element of this reel. When a cast is made, the DC braking system
automatically activates and controls brake force at every moment of the
cast. An internal microcomputer controls the spool rotation by measuring
and adjusting its speed, at 1000 RPM/second, during a cast and lit tle to no
thumbing of the spool is required from the angler. While electronic, it doesn’t
require a bat tery, as the system re-charges itself as the spool rotates
The SL X DC offers four adjustable set tings that enables anglers to fish a wide
variety of lures of different shapes and sizes, in all weather conditions, without
having to constantly fiddle with internal brake set tings. The DC system can also
accommodate various casting style and even different line types, from braid
to mono, with set ting 1 providing the least amount of brake control and 4
providing the most.
The newest SL X will also feature the Hagane Body which helps to
ensure that the reel is extremely rigid and durable, meaning that all
movement results in smooth, yet strong cranking power.
An enlarged 4 8mm Throw Handle across three right handed models,
featuring gear ratios of 6.3:1, 7.2:1 (HG) and 8.2:1 (XG), and one lef t hand (7.2:1
HG) means that the slow and methodical lure worker and those who likes a bit of
speed will be even more impressed with the new DC series. With a maximum
drag output of 5kg, the SL X DC can provide great stopping power.
The DC follows the SL X aesthetic with the great mat te black and blue cosmetic.
The SL X DC will be available in July, 2019 with a starting RRP of $ 3 39.95.
