Quick, but Italians do it better

The engine growls and roars, and it

certainly delivers amazing performance

• both high-speed punch and low-speed
  docility. Plus it revs mightily beyond
  8000rpm. But the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8
  still doesn’t have quite the soul of the
  best Ferrari or Lamborghini engines.

Raising the bar

Little McLaren, sports car newbie,

has engineered a superb folding-roof

mechanism. It’s quiet and fast to operate,

stacks compactly, and when raised maintains

the Coupe’s comely profile, and its excellent

aerodynamics. There’s a one-piece carbon

roof panel and optional electrochromic glass

insert, which can tint or be transparent.
