FRANKIE FRIENDS.[email protected]through, I especially enjoyed Emma Do’s interviews in “Me and
My Nan”, as I’m closer in age to ‘nan’ than ‘me’, and found it
refreshing to read a non-ageist article – a position many other
magazines cannot claim. What a delight it was to find the collage
pages; I’ve already started creating some quirky compositions.
This has been my first encounter with frankie, but I know it won’t

...................Dearest frankie,I’m a mama of three who has just reached
six months of sobriety. I fell into the abyss of ‘mummy’s wine
o’clock’ and it spiralled from there. Over the past few months,
I’ve been trying to live more in line with the things I treasure,
and I’ve learnt that sober treats are the absolute best way to
achieve self-love and a clear-headed morning! Your stunning
magazine is always top of my list, and I want to thank you from
the bottom of my heart for producing such a wonderful piece of
art that fills me with more joy than any bottle of wine ever has.

Dear frankie,Your article “Me and My Nan” really struck a chord
with me. I lost my grandmother a couple of weeks ago; she was
one of my closest confidants. I delivered a eulogy at
her funeral and got to talk about watchingThe Bill
with her on Saturday nights while doing crosswords
and drinking MILO, and her perfume-drenched
three-piece Millers suits, and all her pearls
and brooches. It was lovely to get a glimpse
into the close bonds others have with their
nans. How lucky are we?Aleesha xOh, frankie. The reminiscing! I’m sure as an ’80s toddler I paddled
in a blow-up duck ring in the pool photographed by Kate Berry
for issue 87’s “OK Motels”. I remember I was petrifi ed of the pool
plug! But I must say, the sight of the quintessential breakfast
window was the real winner. Before children, my husband and
I roadtripped up the Queensland coast, and our only selection
criteria for a motel was that it had to have an old-school breakfast

Dear frankie, I’ve been reading your pages, but have you been
reading my mind? I’ve been snipping magazines and creating
collages in my friends’ birthday cards for so long, and I was
overjoyed to see a section of issue 87 dedicated to doing just that!
The bond between frankie and us readers travels beyond the
lines. Feeling such a connection is invigorating. Many thanks

Dear frankie, I just wanted to thank you for Nadine von Cohen’s
article “Down with Morning People”. As another self-confessed
night owl, I’ve never read anything that resonated with me so
deeply. Over the years, I too have made many (futile) attempts to
adjust my natural circadian rhythm, but it simply won’t budge.
My circle of friends is well aware that I’m virtually useless during
the daytime; as soon as the sun goes down, though, I come to
life. Why am I like this? We may never know, but it certainly helps
