Roadracing World – July 2019

wait on it to settle down before I
could really rotate the bike around
the middle. And to go from side to
side through the transitions here
at Auto Club Speedway took some
effort, but that’s just the way the
thing is designed.
“It’s not necessarily built

for going around the racetrack,
but we proved that it can still go
around a racetrack at a decent
clip even with the saddlebags on.
And the ground clearance wasn’t
that bad, actually. We took the peg
feelers off, and the ground clear-
ance was pretty good.”

Conclusion

When Yamaha decided to
rebadge its FJ-09 to become the
Tracer 900 it took advantage of
the opportunity to not only en-
hance the existing machine but to
add a version loaded with the most
popular accessories, the Tracer

900 GT. The features Yamaha add-
ed to create the new GT make it
a turn-key sport-tourer capable
of long-range, two-up traveling
or simple year-round commuting
or anything in between. It’s got a
new name, but underneath the
branding it’s still the same great
sport-touring motorcycle.
