8 MODERNCLASSICS

The Sharnbrook Hotel played host to a seductive mix of Italian
supercars, hot hatches and everything else in between

T

he sight of the only Fiat Argenta

  • and one of only a handful of Alfa
6s – left running on UK roads – was
one highlight of a sunny Petrolheadonism
    Italian Car and Bike Day.
Admittedly, most were transfixed by some
very lairy Lamborghinis – from a pair of
eye-searing yellow Diablos and a red
Countach to a wrapped green Aventador.
However, there was much to enjoy in the
    non-supercar realm. The Alfa Romeo
contingent is always strong, and this year
was no different, with particular star turns

including a subtly modded 75 Cloverleaf V
and a stunning 916 GTV in teal.
There were plenty of Lancia Deltas to take
in too, including the cover car star from issue
six. There was also a reunion of the
Autosportivo collection, including the Fiat
Uno Turbo and Tipo Sedicivalvole that have
both appeared in the magazine. His latest
project – a Lancia Beta Coupe restoredfor
hi s dad – made its first public appearance
an d will also soon be in MC.
This event is fast becoming an essential
tr ip for Italian car fans. petrolheadonism.club

for sale. If you've £5k, drop a line to the magazine.

Fiat Argenta 110
Here's the only example
of the Argenta left on
British roads. Imported
from Ireland, it's arare
facelift version ofthis
luxury executive car,
which was a 1981-
development ot the 132.
While you could specify
a supercharged four
like that found in some
Betas, this 110 model
is powered by a n/a
2.0-litre with 120bhp.

Making their marque
The Sharnbrook Hotel has its own Italian restaurant, so
it was only right to serve up some saucy metal on the
doorstep. The Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 2 appeared in
issue six, though if you fancy something more elegant,
which would you choose between the Ferrari Mondial in the
foreground or the Maserati 4200 Spyder at the back?

Fiat Uno Turbo MkI 'Smurf'
This pocket rocket drew plenty of attention,
not least because of its massive Abarth badge
on the side. It's running 125bhp and has a host
of OMP improvements, plus a gearbox from a
1.5 Tipo SX to give it a longer fifth gear.
