rawing has always been
something I’ve loved doing
before I could fully comprehend
and appreciate why that was.
Drawing is my source of meditation where
time-perception dissolves and I’m able to
delve into my inner space of calm where
my mind is free to think or not think.
I really enjoy working in monochrome,
particularly black and white, as I love its
effective simplicity and the many textures
and techniques that can be achieved.
Throughout my work, I tend to explore
the themes of nature, the human form,
spirituality and the interconnection
between universal elements. I attribute
a lot of my inspiration to the sheer beauty
and power of nature and the abundance of
amazing places the planet has to offer.
In fact, it was during my time in the
Yasawa Islands of Fiji that I envisioned
this piece. I was alone and felt connected
to everything in the moment: the sound
of the ocean, the setting sun superseded
by the moon and stars above, the sand
and the rocks beneath me and the wind
against my skin. I felt a sense of warmth,
calm and trust — a sense of belonging
that I was a part of this infinite universe
and it was a part of me.
