(^22) BULGARI
Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT
The past few years have seen
Bulgari break numerous ultra-
thin movement records with the
Octo Finissimo line. This year is
no different, as it gives the world
its thinnest-ever chronograph
GMT, featuring an integrated
chronograph movement that’s
only 3.3mm thick yet performs
all the heavy-duty functions of a
chrono and a GMT watch. Housed
in a sand-blasted titanium case,
it weighs only 84g, but packs a
punch weightier than some of the
most complicated and pedigreed
watches out there, all while feeling
as light as a spring breeze.
(^23) TAG HEUER
Autavia
Heritage-inspired watches are
becoming an increasingly large
part of any brand’s collection. So
why shouldn’t TAG Heuer get a
piece of the pie? Especially when
it’s sitting on a gold mine of a
legacy? Inspired by the 1930s
original, the Autavia Isograph
Chronometer is, on the surface
a simple, three-handed dress
watch. However, underneath lies a
cutting-edge Isograph composite
hairspring (practically impervious
to shock and gravity). But it’s the
Autavia’s masterful adherence to
vintage design rules that has us
blown away: The coined edges of
the rotating bezel, the oversized
crown, the gradient effect on the
Arabic numerals – all reasons why
vintage watches are so popular.
(^24) HARRY WINSTON
Histoire de Tourbillon 10
In an effort to permanently secure
its name on the list of outrageous
world records, Harry Winston has
at last finished the final piece of
its Histoire collection. It’s called
the Tourbillon 10, and it’s the first
watch ever to be equipped with
four tourbillons. It’s been in the
works since 2009 and, as of now,
marks the upper limit of how
many high-precision movements
can be stored in a wristwatch.
Which also means that it’s far
from a shrinking violet: It’s a loud,
bombastic announcement of
technical chops.
