A.I.R. Studio Paducah
A.I.R. Studio Paducah offers residencies
of two weeks to three months to poets,
fiction writers, and creative nonfiction
writers in the Lower Town Arts District
of Paducah, Kentucky. Residents are
provided with a private apartment and
studio space. The cost of the residency
is $550 for two weeks and $875 for a
month. For residencies in 2020, submit
up to five poems of any length or up to
10 pages of prose, a résumé, a writer’s
statement, and contact information for
three references with a $25 application

American Literary Translators
Association Conference
The 42nd annual American Literary
Translators Association (ALTA) Confer-
ence will be held from November 7 to
November 10 at the Hyatt Regency
Rochester & Joseph A. Floreano River-
side Convention Center in Rochester,
New York. The conference features pan-
els, workshops, readings, a book fair, and
opportunities to meet with editors and
translators. The 2019 theme is “Sight
and Sound.” American Sign Language
poetry troupe Flying Words Project will
deliver the keynote. The cost of the con-
ference for ALTA members is $200 be-
fore October 7, $225 before October 21,and $250 on site. The cost for non-ALTA
members is $275 before October 7, $300
before October 21, and $325 on site. The
cost for students is $50 before October
21 and $75 on site. One-day passes are
available for $125 before October 21
and $150 on site. Lodging is available
at the conference hotel for discounted

Art Omi Writers Residency
Residencies of one week to two months
are offered to poets, fiction writers,
creative nonfiction writers, and trans-
lators from late March through early
June and from early September through
early November at Omi International
Arts Center, situated on 300 acres in the
Hudson River Valley town of Ghent,
New York. Approximately ten writ-
ers can be accommodated during each
session. The residencies include private
lodging, meals, and opportunities to
meet with New York City publishing
professionals. Using only the online ap-
plication system, submit a writing sample
of up to 50 pages, a résumé, a one-page
project proposal, and a letter of recom-
mendation (sent directly to the program

Atlanta Writers Conference
The Atlanta Writers Conference will
be held from October 25 to October 26
at the Westin Atlanta Airport Hotel in
Atlanta. The conference features craft
workshops, publishing panels, pitch ses-
sions, and manuscript and query letter
critiques for fiction writers, nonfiction
writers, and graphic novelists. Partici-
pating publishing professionals include
