ton. The conference features workshops
in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfic-
tion, as well as manuscript consultations
and information sessions on publishing
and marketing. The faculty includes
poet Ken Letko; fiction writers Mary
Buckham, Megan Chance, Robert
Dugoni, and Michael Niemann; nonfic-
tion writers Suzanne Paola Antonetta,
Ann Hedreen, and Karen Treiger;
independent editors Shirin Bridges and
Kerrie Flanagan; and writing coach
William Kenower. Fiction and nonfic-
tion writer Charles R. Johnson will
deliver the keynote. The cost of the
conference ranges from $85 to $303.
Manuscript consultations are available
for $42. Space is limited; registration is

Mountains. The center provides resi-
dents with a private room, studio space,
and meals, and also offers craft talks,
readings, and manuscript consultations
with visiting writers. Tuition, which
includes lodging and meals, is $2,200
for two weeks or $4,250 for one month.
Financial aid is available. Using only the
online application system, submit up to
10 pages of poetry or up to 15 pages of
prose or translation (including the origi-
nal text), a curriculum vitae, and contact
information for two references with a $25
application fee. Admissions are made on
a rolling basis; the application deadline

The 34th annual Write on the Sound
Writers Conference, a program of the
Edmonds Arts Commission, will be
held from October 4 to October 6 atresidency extension. The faculty includes
poets Cyrus Cassells and David Huerta;
fiction writers Alberto Chimal, Elizabeth
Rosner, and Joan Silber; and nonfiction
writers David Barstow, Emily Raboteau,
and Alejandra Xanic. Guest authors
include fiction writers Victor LaValle and
Luisa Valenzuela, and reading fellows
include fiction writers Aysegül Savas
and Nelly Rosario and nonfiction writer
Francisco Cantú. Tuition is $1,995,
which includes most meals. The cost of
the residency extension is $500. Hous-
ing ranges from $30 to $250 per night.
Limited need-based financial aid is avail-
able. Submit a writing sample of 8 to 10
pages and a personal statement. There is
no application fee. Admissions are made
