STARS
Colin Shearman looks
ahead to 17-23 Aug 2019
ARIES (21 March-20 April)
Aspects to Mars indicate busy times
ahead, while fresh developments will
restore your confidence in certain plans.
GEMINI (22 May-21 June)
You’ll whip through a whole pile of chores
over the next few days – and a partner’s
positive attitude will be a great help.
LEO (23 July-22 August)
It looks like a romantic approach will be
favourably received. Furthermore, you
can expect to pick up a few real bargains.
LIBRA (23 September-22 October)
Not everything is ideal but a last-minute
decision to commit to a plan will turn out
well. A new deal may be up for review.
SAGITTARIUS (22 November-20 December)
A message or new opportunity will be
welcome and a career move may be on
offer. This is a good time to ask for help.
AQUARIUS (20 January-19 February)
A tricky week for solo projects but a
partnership couldn’t be better – and
some information will lead to big things.
TAURUS (21 April-21 May)
This is a good week to discuss any family
and financial issues. Make sure you treat
loved ones with care.
CANCER (22 June-22 July)
An offer will be absolutely right and a job
application is likely to succeed, but you
must keep a close eye on all projects.
VIRGO (23 August-22 September)
Aspects to Venus mean it is time to act
on your true feelings. New ideas get the
green light and a friend will offer support.
SCORPIO (23 October-21 November)
You are back in a boss’ good books and
extra cash should soon be rolling in.
There’s a lot of fun on the horizon for you.
CAPRICORN (21 December-19 January)
You will be celebrating soon and a joint
project will start well. Choose the more
adventurous option in any decisions.
PISCES (20 February-20 March)
Actions speak louder than words in close
relationships, and efforts at work pay off.
You will go up in a colleague’s estimation.

Too touchy!
Although I love watching Tipping
Point and Tipping Point: Lucky
Stars on ITV, I squirm when Ben
Shephard can’t keep his hands
off the contestants. He’s a good-
looking man but he seems rather
too tactile. Come on, Ben, keep
your hands to yourself!

Cap happy... Does
Zak ever go hat-free?
Going underground
ITV’s Sewer Men was a fascinating
documentary series, even if it
wasn’t for the faint-hearted and
was a little stomach-churning at
times! Unblocking our sewers
and keeping the rivers clean is a
thankless task but what a great
job these guys are all doing and
with such humour. Hopefully it will
make people think twice before
flushing wet wipes and cotton
buds down the toilet!

It was so good to see
Celebrity 5 Go Barging
return to Channel 5 for
a new series. Michael
Buerk, John Prescott,
Anita Harris, Amanda
Barrie and Shaun
Williamson made a great
team and it was such fun
watching them getting to
grips with life on the canal. Learning about all the places they
visited was very interesting, but the ladies certainly seemed
better navigators than the chaps, who kept crashing their barge!

Canal
capers
Take it of f!
I’ve watched
Emmerdale for
many years, but
I don’t think I’ve
ever seen Zak remove
his cap! Does he
sleep in it? He seems
to wear it morning,
noon and night. No
gentleman wears
his cap in the house
or at the table, so
I’m amazed that he
ever found three ladies
to marry him!

PEAKY BLINDERS
OCan MP Tommy govern the

THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF
OThe gang return with a
new batch of brave bakers
CORONATION STREET
OJan comes back for Eileen,
but can she really trust him?
Refreshing Rosa
I’m a long-standing fan of BBC1’s
Casualty and firmly believe Rosa,
played by Jacey Salles, is the best
new character in years. She’s
funny, makes a refreshing change
from the same old faces and is a
big help to the overworked staff.
I hope she’s here to stay!
Simon Phillips, Derbyshire
Broken Britain!
BBC2’s documentary series
Broke was a distressing
watch. The three
programmes followed
working families
struggling to keep
their heads
above water
and offered
something
different from the usual Benefits
Britain-style shows. I really hope
the series opened viewers’ eyes to
how some people are left behind

  • through no fault of their own!

Culinary delights
I love watching Nadiya’s Time
to Eat on BBC2. The Bake
Off winner’s passion for
cookery really shines
through and she has so
many great ideas. I do
wish she wouldn’t wear
coloured nail varnish,
though, as I’m
worried it will
end up in her
food and ruin
the dish!
