Larry Shinoda created the unique look of
the 1969 Ford Boss 302 replete with graphics,
sans quarter scoops. A total of 1,628 Boss 302
screamers were built in 1969, but only 194
were Wimbledon White. Cleveland heads, a
10.5:1 compression ratio, a solid-lifter cam,
and a 780-cfm Holley four-barrel carbure-
tor encouraged high-rpm operation for road
course dominance. The Boss 302 sold for an
affordable $61,600—smart buy.
Although FM3 Moulin Rouge is not the
original color for this real-deal four-speed
1970 AAR ’Cuda, the color change was a good
call. Power comes from a factory-correct
340ci/290hp engine fed by three two-barrel
Holley carburetors. The AAR Trans-Am
package added front and rear spoilers, side
exhaust, a staggered wheel/tire package, per-
formance suspension, and quick-ratio steer-
ing. The audacious AAR from the Ray Skillman
collection sold for $77,000.
The beautifully restored Fathom Blue 1967
Pontiac GTO with Rally I wheels was factory
produced with the newly upsized 400ci en-
gine factory rated at 335 hp. A wide-ratio four-
speed transmission and 3.55 Safe-T-Tr ack rear,
power steering and brakes, “ride and handling
package,” and bucket seats spell cruiser.
Mecum bidders decided on a final price of
$58,300 for the potent Poncho.
