performance improvements. The Chevrolet
Corvette Carbon 65 Edition is currently
available at Impex. The eighth generation of
the Porsche 911 has also launched this year.
It is presented in two variants, the rear-wheel
drive 911 Carrera S and the all-wheel drive
911 Carrera 4S. Both models are available as
Coupés and Cabriolets. The new 718 Spyder
and 718 Cayman GT4 are expected to arrive
in the Porsche showroom soon, according to
Hala Abou Charaf, Marketing Manager at
Porsche Centre Lebanon.
ATTRACTIVE PERFORMANCE
Power is a key element when it comes
to sports cars. Manufacturers work
continuously to offer high performing
vehicles. “The performance of a car is in
the power to weight ratio,” said Toubbeh,
“McLaren is about lightweight engineering,”
he said. In its lightest specification, the
600 LT weighs only 1,247kg dry, which, in
conjunction with 592 HP and 620Nm torque,
generates acceleration figures of 2.9 seconds
from 0-100 km/h and 8.2 seconds from
0-200 km/h. Ferrari has invested in the
engine of its F8 Tributo. This car replaces
the 488 GTB. It is the most powerful V8
engine to date, according to Giorgio Turri,
General Manager at Ferrari Middle East.
The twin-turbo mill cranks out 710 HP, a 50
HP increase compared to the 488 GTB. The
car reaches a top speed of
340 km/h. Porsche has also
enhanced the performance
of its Carrera 911 model. The
turbocharged flat-six engine
of both Porsche models,
the 911 Carrera S and 911
Carrera 4S, now produces
450 HP. The two 911 variants
beat the four-second mark for
acceleration from zero to 100
km/h. Top speeds are now measured at 308
km/h for the 911 Carrera S and 306 km/h for
the all-wheel drive version. This corresponds
to an increase of 30 HP compared with the
previous generation. The new Bentley GT is

architecture, featuring a completely new 6.0
A
utomakers continue to invest in
their sports car segments. They
are competing to offer attractive
designs and advanced technical elements
by releasing new models or redesigning
existing models to satisfy demand among
their customers. Powerful engines, luxurious
designs, enhanced safety measures and
the latest technology are common features
among sports cars this year.
NEWCOMERS
The number of sports cars on the market
has expanded this season. New coupés and
convertibles have arrived in the showrooms.
The new Bentley Continental GTC convertible
is available this season at the brand’s dealer
Saad and Trad. The coupé version of the car
is available for sale as well, according to Imad
Ghorra, Brand Manager for Bentley and
Lamborghini. The car has been completely
redesigned. It is an all-wheel drive vehicle
that produces 626 HP. The dealer also
received the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ
earlier this year. Other Lamborghini all
wheel drives (AWDs), including the Huracán
EVO, available as both a Coupé and a Spyder,
is also expected to arrive this year. The V10
version comes with a 7-speed Lamborghini
Doppia Frizione (LDF) dual-clutch
transmission, with characteristics according
to the selected driving mode. This season,
the fourth McLaren to receive the ‘Longtail’
name, the 600LT, is being offered at McLaren
Lebanon, which joined the Rasamny Younis
Group of Companies (RYMCO) two years
ago. The new McLaren 600LT
Coupé has been re-engineered
with minimized weight,
optimized aerodynamics,
increased power and a special
focus on driver engagement,
according to Johnny Toubbeh,
Marketing Manager at
McLaren. The British
influence is also present with
the Aston Martin Vantage
Coupé. The car was fully redesigned with
revised styling and a new turbocharged V8
engine. Scuderia, the exclusive importer
of Ferrari, has received the new Ferrari F8
Tributo. The F8 Tributo, which was unveiled
at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, is an
update to the 488, with notable exterior and
